A VOCAL PERFORMANCE BY KATHERINE SPEARS FROM CHARLES DREW MIDDLE SCHOOL PERFORMING ''I BELIEVE'' BY FANTASIA

Commissioner Edmonson introduced Ms. Katherine Spears, a student of Charles Drew Middle School, who came before the Board to perform “I Believe” by Fantasia. She commended Ms. Spears on her performance and encouraged her to pursue her career as a vocalist. Commissioner Edmonson along with Chairwoman Sosa and Mayor Carlos Gimenez presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Spears in addition to recognizing all of the 7th grade students from Charles Drew Middle School who attended today’s (5/7) meeting.
Commissioner Edmonson introduced Ms. Samantha Wimley, who is a participant in the Miami-Dade County Youth Internship Training Program and will be working in District Office 3 for six month through the partnership of Miami-Dade County and the South Florida Workforce.
Additionally, Commissioner Jordan introduced Ms. Anthonesia Cutler, who was also working as an intern with District Office 1 through the same program.
Mr. Harvey Ruvin, Clerk of the Courts, expressed appreciation, and thanked the Board members, specifically Vice Chair Bell, who sponsored the item, for supporting and granting jurors in Miami-Dade County the same privilege of free parking as jurors statewide. He said this decision allowed citizens to perform their civic duty, and would help the 65,000 jurors, who actively served in 2012.
