REPORT:	First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairwoman Sosa opened the public hearing and called for any persons wishing to appear in connection with the item. Commissioners Bovo, Zapata, Sosa, Heyman, Souto and Bell asked to be listed as co-sponsors to this item. There being no further comments or questions, Chairwoman Sosa closed the public hearing and the Board proceeded to vote on this item as presented.

TITLE
RESOLUTION DEDICATING MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE STATION 29 LOCATED AT 351 SW 107 AVENUE, SWEETWATER, IN HONOR OF FIREFIGHTER JUAN A. TORGA, JR.

BODY
WHEREAS, Firefighter Juan A. Torga, Jr. served Miami-Dade County residents with honor and distinction over a 24 year career; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. began his 24 year career with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department in March of 1978; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. served during those years as a firefighter in the United States Air Force Reserves and as a Reserve Police Officer for Miami-Dade Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. eagerly and enthusiastically used his wisdom and knowledge to inform, guide and direct subordinates, colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr.�s positive spirit and dedication to the fire rescue service did not wane despite diminishing health; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. exemplified tireless, selfless, and uncompromising commitment to public services and the deliverance of excellence; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. spent more than 20 years of his fire-rescue career with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue at Sweetwater Fire-Rescue Station 29; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Torga, Jr. passed away on May 17, 2009 after suffering an unexpected stroke; and
WHEREAS, this proposed facility dedication is located in County Commission District 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, finds that Firefighter Juan A. Torga, Jr. has made a direct, significant contribution to this community, and dedicates the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 29 located at 351 SW 107 Avenue, Sweetwater, in honor of Firefighter Juan A. Torga, Jr.
Section 2. Directs the Mayor or designee to install suitable signage and/or markers dedicating Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 29 in honor of Firefighter Juan A. Torga, Jr.
