REPORT:	During consideration of changes to today's agenda, Assistant County Attorney Bruce Libhaber noted the Sponsor requested this resolution be amended to insert the phrase “multi-modal transportation facility” after the word “interchange” and to insert the words “State Road 7” before the words “US 441” in the first ‘Whereas’ clause on typed page 3. Assistant County Attorney Bruce Libhaber read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. It was moved by Commissioner Monestime and seconded by Commissioner Bovo that this resolution be forwarded to the County Commission with a favorable recommendation, as amended. Chairman Moss opened the floor for public comment on this resolution, and closed it after no one appeared to speak. Commissioner Monestime noted this resolution directed the Mayor or his designee to work with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on developing a cooperative management agreement for operating and maintaining the facilities located around the Golden Glades Interchange. He said this property had been neglected for some time and could benefit from some business development, based on the amount of traffic in the area. Hearing no further comments or questions, the Committee members proceeded to vote to forward the foregoing proposed resolution to the County Commission with a favorable recommendation with committee amendment(s) to insert the phrase “multi-modal transportation facility” after the word “interchange” and insert the words “State Road 7” before the words “US 441” in the first ‘Whereas’ clause on typed page 3.

RESOLUTION DIRECTING MAYOR OR MAYORï¿½S DESIGNEE TO WORK WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) TO DEVELOP A PLAN FOR THE COOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF THE FACILITIES AT GOLDEN GLADES INTERCHANGE

BODY

WHEREAS, the Golden Glades Interchange >>Multi Modal Transportation Facility<< 1 serves as a regional transportation hub, as it constitutes the confluence of >>State Road 7/< WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has completed a Project Development and Environment Study for a new integrated multimodal transportation facility and is in the process of restructuring the Golden Glades Interchange surface parking lots to include a structured garage parking and the reconfiguration of the East Lot to include a Truck and Travel Center; and
WHEREAS, greater coordination between Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Transportation may result in greater efficiencies and improved transportation flow by facilitating greater access to Miami-Dade Transit bus facilities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Mayor or Mayorï¿½s designee is directed to work with the Florida Department of Transportation to develop a plan for the cooperative management and operation of the facilities at the Golden Glades Interchange.
