REPORT: First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read into the record the title of the foregoing proposed resolution and its supplement. Chairwoman Sosa opened the public hearing on the foregoing proposed resolution and its supplement. Ms. Ana Cantero, 1408 Dorado Avenue, appeared before the Board to speak in support of the foregoing proposed resolution and its supplement. Chairwoman Sosa closed the public hearing after no other person appeared wishing to speak. Hearing no further questions or comments, the Board members proceeded to vote on the foregoing proposed resolution and its supplement, as presented.

TITLE
RESOLUTION NAMING THE INTERIOR ROAD IN TROPICAL PARK THAT LEADS TO THE RONALD REAGAN EQUESTRIAN CENTER AS �DR. ROBERTO PARAJON WAY�; DIRECTING THAT SUITABLE SIGNAGE BE INSTALLED

BODY
WHEREAS, Dr. Roberto Enrique Parajon was born in Havana, Cuba on August 3, 1913 to Roberto Parajon and Elia de los Reyes Gavilan; and
WHEREAS, while in Cuba, Dr. Parajon worked as a Veterinary Physician specializing in large animals; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Parajon married Carlotta Florin; the couple had no children; and
WHEREAS, after moving to the United States, Dr. Parajon worked in several different positions for twenty years until his retirement as a Marketing Specialist with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs; and
WHEREAS, in 1983, Dr. Parajon was one of three recipients of the State Department of Agriculture Honor Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Parajon is also a recipient of the James A. Graham Award for Outstanding Service; and
WHEREAS, at the Florida International Agribusiness Trade Show, Dr. Parajon was acknowledged as Ambassador-At-Large for his twenty years of service from 1971 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Roberto Parajon passed away on July 5, 2010 at the age of 96; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Parajon is survived by his great grandnephews, Raoul G. Cantero (former Justice of the Florida Supreme Court), Mario G. Cantero, and Anuka Serrano Cantero, and their spouses and children, Christian, Michael and Elisa Cantero, Allan-Michael Cantero and Daniel Serrano; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to honor the memory and contributions of Dr. Roberto Parajon by naming the interior road in Tropical Park that leads to the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center as �Dr. Roberto Parajon Way�,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, names the interior road in Tropical Park that leads to the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center as �Dr. Roberto Parajon Way�.
Section 2. Directs the County Mayor or Mayor�s designee to install suitable signage identifying the interior road in Tropical Park that leads to the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center as �Dr. Roberto Parajon Way�.
