REPORT: Assistant County Attorney Annery Pulgar Alfonso read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Deputy Mayor Hudak asked that this resolution be amended to allow County Administration at least 120 days to complete and provide a more comprehensive report. Commissioner Moss, sponsor of the proposed resolution, concurred with Administration's request and proffered an amendment to require Administration provide their report in 180 days. There being no further comments or questions, the Committee proceeded to vote on the foregoing proposed resolution as amended.

TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR DESIGNEE TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT A REPORT TO THE BOARD REGARDING THE FEASIBILITY OF CREATING A SYSTEM OF BLUEWAYS

BODY
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County features an extensive system of greenways, connecting people and wildlife to places, natures, and each other; and
WHEREAS, the County�s system of greenways uses existing utility easements, roadways, transportation corridors, and waterfronts to create new recreational opportunities for residents and visitors, provide an alternative means of transportation, protect natural resources, increase property values, and encourage tourism and business development; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the land available for greenways, the County also has a vast network of canals and waterways that may provide additional recreational and transportation opportunities to residents and visitors, enhancing quality of life in many of the same ways that the County�s greenways have proven beneficial,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Mayor or designee shall prepare a report studying the feasibility of developing a blueway system, similar to the County�s greenway system, utilizing the County�s existing waterways to create new or improved recreational or transportation opportunities for County residents and visitors. The County Mayor or designee shall provide the report to this Board within [[90]]1 >>180<< days of the effective date of this resolution and shall place the completed feasibility report on an agenda of the Board pursuant to Ordinance No. 14-65.
