TITLE
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN ALLOCATION OF BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND PROGRAM PROJECT NO. 232 � �FUTURE MULTI-USE FACILITIES� IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,400,000.00 FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-USE FACILITY AT NORTH TRAIL PARK

BODY
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. R-917-04 (the �Outreach Facilities Resolution��), the voters approved the issuance of general obligation bonds in a principal amount not to exceed $255,070,000.00 to construct and improve public service outreach facilities to meet code and service requirements and to increase neighborhood and community access to services; and
WHEREAS, Appendix A to the Outreach Facilities Resolution lists projects eligible for funding from the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond Program (the �Bond Program�) by project number, municipal project location, Commission district, project name, project description, street address and allocation; and
WHEREAS, one of the projects listed in Appendix A to the Outreach Facilities Resolution and approved by the voters for funding is Project No. 232 � �Future Multi-Use Facilities� (�Project No. 232�) with an original allocation of $39,000,000.00 and the following project description: �Acquire or construct various multi-use County government facilities in order to bring County services closer to local communities;� and
WHEREAS, previously, $18,552,000.00 was allocated and used from Project No. 232 for the acquisition of the Lightspeed Building, $5,800,000.00 was allocated and used for the acquisition of the Victims Assistance Center, and $8,610,000.00 was allocated for the development of a West Dade Government Center; and
WHEREAS, the unallocated balance of Project No. 232 is therefore $6,038,000.00; and
WHEREAS, North Trail Park, located at 780 NW 127th Avenue, Miami, FL 33182, is a park owned and operated by the Miami-Dade County Park, Recreation and Open Spaces Department; and
WHEREAS, North Trail Park was allocated $1,789,000.00 from the Bond Program in order to undertake park improvements, including picnic area, athletic fields and courts, but requires additional funding in order to complete the development of a 7,000 square foot multi-use facility to include expansion of the existing recreation center, a senior center, facilities for after-school, art and youth programs, and expansion of the parking lot (�Project�); and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to approve an allocation from Project No. 232 in the amount of $3,400,000.00 (leaving an unallocated balance of $2,638,000.00) in order to fund the development of the Project in North Trail Park,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are incorporated in this resolution by reference and are approved.
Section 2. This Board hereby finds that the Project is a multi-use government facility that will provide services to the local community surrounding North Trail Park, and approves an allocation from Project No. 232 in the amount of $3,400,000.00 in order to fund the development of the Project at North Trail Park.
