Board of County Commissioners 10/5/2016 11A2 Adopted P

Metropolitan Services Committee 9/13/2016 2A Forwarded to BCC with a favorable recommendation P
REPORT: Following the discussion on 2B, Commissioner Levine Cava noted this was a marketing initiative on the installment payment option for the waterline connection fees recommended by the Beacon Council for small businesses. She explained the process would allow financing through the property taxes. Mr. Lester Sola, Director Water and Sewer Department (WASD) further explained this would afford the opportunity for developers or businesses while in the construction process to make payments on the connection fees, which was an existing program at the discretion of the Department. Commissioner Levine Cava pointed out this was similar to an existing program, but would be a way to publicize the availability of the program. Discussion ensued between Commissioner Diaz and Mr. Sola regarding how this item would be related to individuals who brought property and in the process of development that allowed payment installments, rather than pay the full amount for added expenses. Further discussion ensued pertaining to whether a business would be forced to change from a septic tank to the waterline that would be at the discretion of the Department Environmental Resources Management (DERM) Hearing no further comments or questions the MSC proceeded to vote that the foregoing proposed resolution be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation as presented. Note: See further notes on Agenda Item 2B, Legislative File No. 161927.
