REPORT:	First Assistant County Attorney Geri Bonzon-Keenan read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Bovo opened the public hearing. There being no one wishing to appear before the Board, Chairman Bovo closed the public hearing. Mr. Carlos Migoya, President and Chief Executive Officer, Jackson Health System, reported that the renaming of Jackson South Community Hospital to the “Jackson South Medical Center” was in response to the hospital now having a trauma center and becoming a regional medical center. Hearing no further questions or comments, the Board proceeded to vote to adopt the foregoing proposed resolution.

TITLE
RESOLUTION RENAMING THE JACKSON SOUTH COMMUNITY HOSPITAL THE ''JACKSON SOUTH MEDICAL CENTER''

BODY
WHEREAS, the Jackson South Community Hospital is a designated facility of the Public Health Trust of Miami-Dade County, Florida (the �Public Health Trust�); and
WHEREAS, the Jackson South Community Hospital provides a wide array of medical services to the citizens of Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the recommended name change is consistent with the Public Health Trust�s strategic plan to standardize naming conventions and grow the appearance and visibility of its services; and
WHEREAS, as noted by the Public Health Trust, Jackson Memorial and Jackson North have �Medical Center� in their name; and
WHEREAS, on February 2, 2017, the Board of Trustees of the Public Health Trust adopted Resolution No. PHT 02/17-006, a copy of which is attached to this Resolution, urging this Board to rename the Jackson South Community Hospital to the �Jackson South Medical Center� in order to provide continuity in the brand for all three County hospitals; and�
WHEREAS, this Board wishes to rename the Jackson South Community Hospital the �Jackson South Medical Center�; and
WHEREAS, Rule 9.02 of the Board�s Rules of Procedure provides that resolutions regarding proposed naming, renaming or codesignation of Miami-Dade County facilities or property shall be sponsored by the district commissioner where the facility or property is located; and
WHEREAS, the facility to be renamed is located in County Commission District Eight,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, renames the Jackson South Community Hospital the �Jackson South Medical Center�.
Section 2. Directs the Public Health Trust to revise all references to the Jackson South Community Hospital to the �Jackson South Medical Center� and to install any necessary signage reflecting the new name.
