TITLE
RESOLUTION DECLARING THE MONTH OF MARCH 2021, AND THE MONTH OF MARCH FOR EACH YEAR THEREAFTER, AS �HEALTH HEROES MONTH�

BODY
WHEREAS, coronavirus disease 2019 (�COVID-19�) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, a novel coronavirus, which spread globally, leading to the World Health Organization officially declaring COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11, 2020; and
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order No. 20-52 declaring a state of emergency for the entire State of Florida as a result of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the County Mayor declared a state of emergency for Miami-Dade County as a result of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a huge workload burden for healthcare professionals, while also placing them on the frontline for defending against the virus; and
WHEREAS, this Board acknowledges and appreciates the honorable commitment that healthcare professionals dedicate to the health and well-being of their patients daily; and
WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has illuminated instances where healthcare professionals go above and beyond the call of duty to provide care and comfort for their patients; and
WHEREAS, this Board is grateful for the brave sacrifices of the healthcare professionals in the Jackson Health System and other healthcare systems throughout the County who provide extraordinary services to the residents of Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, this Board appreciates the healthcare professionals who enthusiastically continued their selfless devotion to their patients at the start of the pandemic�s effect on Miami-Dade County, and have continued to do so throughout the duration of the pandemic,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board declares the month of March 2021, and the month of March for each year thereafter, as �Health Heroes Month�.
