Addiction Services
The problem of prescription drug abuse has become a fatal epidemic that affects individuals across all societal classes. Recent alarming trends show that 90% of patients in pain clinics are taking opioid medications. To help increase awareness regarding this serious public health issue, the Addiction Services Board assembled a panel of experts who presented “Prescription Drug Abuse: Multiple Perspectives on a Fatal Epidemic” at the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association/Florida Council for Community Mental Health 2010 Annual Conference on August 11, 2010 in Orlando, FL.
