1. Is there a fee for the Miami-Dade Green Business Program?

There is no fee associated with the Green Business Program. It is the County’s goal to assist our business community achieve efficiencies and marketability by joining the growing trend of green certification.

2. How would I know how Green my business is?

The Green Business Certification Application Checklist is designed to provide you with a score on how green your business is. Based on your score, you will be able to identify the areas of your operation that need to be improved upon in order to get on your way to becoming a Green Business. This website provides you with a number of tools to assist you in getting Green.

3. If a business is out of compliance with an environmental regulation, is there assistance available to bring it under compliance?

Our intent is to help your business be in compliance and operate as a Green Business. If, through the assessment process, you find that your business is out of compliance with certain environmental regulations, we can help.

Once your business achieves environmental compliance, you should proceed with your Green self-audit.

4. I rent my office. Can my business still qualify for the Green Business Program?

Yes. Almost all recognized businesses lease their office spaces. Your business may need to work with the landlord or property manager in order to respond to questions pertaining to fixtures in your facility as well as cleaning and maintenance schedules and practices. If it is determined that your business needs to upgrade fixtures in order to meet green requirements, your business will need to coordinate improvements or upgrades with the landlord.

5. I am interested in obtaining Green Business recognition but my business is not listed as one of the sectors. How should I proceed?

The Miami-Dade Green Business Program has developed applications for the following sectors:

  • General Office/Retail
  • Restaurants
  • Dental Practices
  • Garment Cleaning

We are working on the following new sectors:

  • Auto repair facilities
  • Commercial buildings
  • Janitorial and cleaning services
  • Printing companies

If your business is in a sector not on the current list, please contact us. We will make sure that we provide you with information as to when to expect the sector to be included.
