Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach were pleased to host a very successful 6th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit on October 1-2, 2014 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The annual Summit is an initiative of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, a partnership between Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties, their municipalities and other partners. The Compact partners have been working together since 2009 to develop a coordinated climate change strategy for the region, helping to advance policy, catalyze local and regional action, and connect and collaborate with other communities throughout the nation and the world.
The Climate Leadership Summit is a major regional event focused on facilitating climate-related collaboration and knowledge sharing. The Summit attracts innovative thinkers and leaders from business, government, academia and the non-profit community to exchange ideas and dialogue at panel discussions and networking breaks.
Participants attending the Summit were able to stay abreast of the current state of climate science, track policy developments, monitor key players at regional, national and international levels, and network with private and public-sector sustainability professionals and stakeholders, corporate representatives and elected officials throughout the two-day event.
As in past years, notable private and public sector speakers from a variety of backgrounds shared their unique regional, national and international perspectives on climate change issues. These presentations will be available online in the near future.
