Parking Card Procedures

The proximity-parking card you have just received is an essential part of one of the most sophisticated parking control systems utilized today. To ensure that your card works properly, please follow the following procedures mentioned below.
  • The proximity-parking card will not work the day of issuance. The card will be inputted into the computer that night and will be effective the following morning. Please present your parking ticket and the parking office will validate your parking for that day.

  • The parking card must be placed over the magnetic card reader as you enter/exit the parking facility. After placing the card over the magnetic card reader there will be an approximate delay of about 2 – 3 seconds at which time you will hear a tone verifying your proximity parking card has been registered and the entry/exit gate will rise.

  • If you forget your parking card, you will need to pull a daily ticket from the ticket splitter in the parking facility entrance. You will need to bring the ticket to the Parking Office where we will review and verify your key card status. Pending Parking Office approval, we would validate your parking ticket and you may exit the parking facility via the cashier free of charge.

  • The parking card control system is capable of monitoring all parking card activities. It is essential that you use your parking card in proper sequence (Entry – Exit). If the card is not used in proper sequence, the card will not work properly. If you enter the facility with your parking key card, you must then exit the parking facility using your parking key card. If not, the system will have you out of sequence in the anti pass back status. Also, if you drive up to the entrance/exit readers and you see that the gate is broken, or in the up position, please use the key card to maintain proper card usage sequence. Anyone who violates this (anti pass back) feature will be required to pay the cashier to exit the parking facility. If the parking card abuse continues, all parking card privileges may be revoked.

  • Should you encounter any problems with your parking cards please contact the ISD Parking Office before 4:30 PM to resolve this problem before you try to leave. If the problem occurs after office hours and the attendant is gone for the day, you will need to contact one of the security persons to assist you.

  • All parking charges must be paid on time. If your account defaults to a past due status for failure of payment, your parking card will be deactivated. You will then be required to pay the daily parking fees for the parking facility where you parked for that day and/or transaction. Monthly account payments are due by the 28th of the month prior to service, and no later than the 3rd day of the current month of parking before it is deactivated and placed in past due status and cancelled.

  • You may contact the ISD Parking Management office at (305) 375 – 4159 via fax (305) 579–4597 or online at miamidade.gov/gsa/about_downtown_parking.asp). Our offices are located in the Jack Thomas Building - 172 West Flagler Street - Room 325, Miami, FL 33130.
