    Asset Management

The Asset Management and Development Unit's main areas of responsibility are the sale and the planning and development of County owned property.
In addition to selling surplus County land, the Asset Management and Development unit assists County Agencies in disposing of their surplus land, identifying properties appropriate for Miami-Dade Housing Agency's Infill Housing Initiative, and assisting the public with inquiries regarding the purchase of County land. On development related projects, the section performs feasibility studies for potential uses of County property, joint development of County property and the preparation of related agreements.

    Process

The process of having a property declared surplus is the first step in the sale, lease or conveyance of  rights in County-owned property administered by General Services Administration. Declaring County property surplus is typically initiated in one of three ways:

    • A determination by the using agency that it no longer has a need for the property.
    • A request to acquire the property is made by a non county individual or institution
    • GSA initiates the process as an asset management action.

Once the property is declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners, it is put on the County’s list of Surplus Property available for sale. Refer to the Land Sale Process for more details.
