The Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization, was created to increase the ability of low- and moderate-income families to attain home ownership by providing affordable mortgage financing, support community and economic development in the area of housing, and lessen the impact of the demand for affordable housing on local governmental resources.
The Foundation maintains two certifications from the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, operating under the United States Department of the Treasury:
- Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Certification; and
- Community Development Enterprise (CDE) Certification.
The Foundation has also attained and maintains three homebuyer counseling certifications:
Goals
- Secure and award grant funding in support of educational and financial programs designed to help create affordable housing and ownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents.
- Become a provider of and major participant in the provision of home ownership counseling and educational programs.
- Generate capital for the purchase, rehabilitation, construction, and development of real property by the Foundation.
- Invest in real estate, securities, and financial institutions.
- Facilitate the attainment of Community Reinvestment Act goals and objectives by financial institutions through our programs.
Program Objectives
- Secure local, state, and national certifications for the Foundations programs and community initiatives.
- Secure investments in the Foundation as a source of revenue, from financial institutions, organizations, and individuals who support the Foundation’s mission.
- Fund the rehabilitation, construction, or purchase of real property.
- Expand homebuyer education, counseling, housing workshops, and community outreach to underserved communities in Miami-Dade County.
