Buying a Home
The Housing Finance Authority integrates a partnership with entities from the private and public sector to provide products and services that would enable low to moderate-income home buyers in Miami-Dade County to own their home.
First Mortgage Homebuyer Bond Program
Thanks to a special new loan partnership between the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County and local home mortgage lenders, eligible very low to moderate-income home buyers in Miami-Dade County now have a chance to own a home of their own at below-market mortgage rates. Homebuyers can take advantage of our low-interest rate mortgages and financial assistance to help cover down payment and closing costs. To participate in the program you must work with a First Mortgage Homebuyer Bond Program participating lender.
Second Mortgage Loan Processing
The Second Mortgage Loan Processing function has been transfered to the Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) located at 701 NW 1st Court, 14th Floor, Miami Florida 33136 The phone number is 786-469-2100.
Section 8 Homeownership Program (Available to recipients of Section 8 Rental Subsidy)
This program is administered by the Miami-Dade Public Housing Agency (MDPHA). The program allows for the use of the Housing Choice Voucher subsidy to be applied towards mortgage payments instead of rental payments, thereby enabling participants to purchase a home for close to their monthly rental payment. HOPE VI
The Miami-Dade Housing Agency's $35 million Homeownership Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE VI) grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development will completely revitalize the Scott Home and Carver Homes public housing developments. Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance Program
The Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust administers the Homeownership Assisted Program (HAP), which is designed to address the need of eligible low/moderate income families in Miami-Dade County for down payment and closing costs assistance. For more information, visit HAP.
Homebuyer Education Programs
If you are a first time homebuyer, or would like to learn more about buying your own home, join our Homebuyers Club - you'll receive invitations to educational workshops, housing fairs, and get one-on-one counseling. This service is offered by the Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Foundation, Inc.
