Adker vs. HUD
A major step toward providing increased housing opportunities for all low-income citizens of Miami-Dade County was reached in 1998. The agreement settled a class action lawsuit filed by public housing residents.
The Adker Consent Decree represents a significant step in desegregating public housing, providing African Americans (mobility pool members) in public housing with a choice of housing options and improving the quality of life in public housing and surrounding neighborhoods.
