Programs to help the elderly, homeless, mentally disabled, veterans, substance abusers.

Living With AIDS
The Shelter Plus Care Homeless program provides housing to homeless individuals who are mentally disabled, have chronic problems with drugs, alcohol, or have AIDS.

Rent a Single Room
The Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy (SRO) provides rental assistance payments to owners on behalf of very low-income single, homeless individuals. Building owners are compensated through rents for the cost of rehabilitation as well as maintenance and other costs.

Housing for Veterans
The Veterans Assisted Supportive Housing Program provides 50 rental vouchers to homeless veterans with severe psychiatric or substance abuse disorders. The program is administered in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Assisted Living Facilities for the Elderly
Are designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of elderly public housing residents. The concept evolved from a lack of affordable housing alternatives to meet the demand for senior housing and a need for new funding sources to satisfy the problem of long-term care.
