Because there are so many families who need affordable rental housing, the fairest way for housing authorities to select families is through a waiting list. Applicants for Miami-Dade Public Housing Agency's subsidized rental housing programs are placed on a ranked waiting list compiled using a lottery-like system. There is a single application for project-based units (Public Housing, Moderate Rehabilitation and Section 8 New Construction) and tenant-based units (Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher) .
Open registration for the 2008 Waiting List is now closed. Selections for eligibility interviews are currently in progress. All of the names of applicants who completed the online registration between July 1-31, 2008 have been entered into an electronic lottery in which a computer randomly selected the applicant names and assigned them two ranking positions, one for the Public Housing, Moderate Rehabilitation and Section 8 New Construction programs and another one for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. At the time of the eligibility interview
If your ranking number is selected from the waiting list you will be required to bring the following documentation to your interview. Your interview will determine whether you are eligible for housing assistance. Please refer to the guidelines for possible refusal of housing assistance to determine if you are eligible.
