The Office of Historic Preservation helps identify, protect, enhance, and perpetuate properties of historical, architectural, archaeological, paleontological, cultural, and aesthetic merit in Miami-Dade County.

By working with the Historic Preservation Board, the public, and other civic, municipal, state and federal agencies and organizations, such properties are safeguarded through regulation.

Restoration, rehabilitation, and reuse of such properties are encouraged through financial incentives.

The Office of Historic and Archaeological Resources is currently in the process of revising the Administrative Rules which govern the Historic Preservation Bond Funds. The Historic Preservation Fund request for proposal (RFP NO. HPF0708) has been withdrawn while the rules are reviewed.

1. The deadline for submitting the submittals has been extended indefinitely, until further notice. The location in which the submittals are to be delivered remains the same.
2. The deadline to submit questions in writing has been extended indefinitely, until further notice.

The Historic Preseravation Fund deadline for submission and for questions has been extended.  The new deadline for questions is July 18, 2008 and the deadline for submission is August 15, 2008 by 2:00 pm at the Clerks Office on the 17th Floor.  Future addendums will include the answers to questions that have been previously submitted.

As part of the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond Program, a Historic Preservation Fund totaling $10 million will provide matching monies for eligible projects through grants to municipalities, organizations and individual property owners in the County for the purpose of rehabilitating historic sites and structures.
