The Miami-Dade County Apprenticeship Training Program provides County departments with candidates to fill vocational and technical positions. The Human Resources Department will collaborate with other County departments to coordinate and develop solutions to meet individual departmental needs, reviewing occupations that have recruitment difficulty, and developing on-the-job opportunities in combination with formal training.
This program is a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in which internal employees and outside recruits learn the practical and theoretical aspects of vocational and technical occupations. Some applicants will be appointed to budgeted positions in "Trainee Status," thereby providing for an employment opportunity upon the successful completion of the trainee period. All external trainee opportunities will be competitively recruited.
The Human Resources Department will partner with other County departments, the South Florida Workforce, community-based organizations, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) and Miami-Dade Community College to develop programs and solutions to benefit the County and the community.
County departments interested in developing an apprenticeship program should contact their HR Recruitment Specialist or send an e-mail to apprenticeship@miamidade.gov .
Individuals interested in trainee opportunities should visit the Miami-Dade County eJobs website at www.miamidade.gov/jobs to identify current offerings.
