| The County's apprenticeship program is a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. The program is open to both internal and external applicants.
Participants will learn the practical and theoretical aspects of various vocational and technical County jobs. The duration of the apprenticeship will vary depending on the training requirements of the position.
Trainee status
The program also offers the opportunity for apprentices in selected fields to be chosen for paid positions in "trainee status." Apprentices in "trainee status" may be provided an employment opportunity upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Individuals interested in "trainee status" opportunities should visit the e-Jobs website to identify current offerings.
Job opportunities
The Apprenticeship Program provides County departments with candidates to fill vocational and technical positions. A permanent position is not guaranteed. However, upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Training Program, a candidate will be better suited to compete for available openings.
Partnerships
The Human Resources Department is partnering with other County departments, South Florida Workforce, community-based organizations, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami-Dade College to develop programs to benefit the County and the community.
