Bachelor of Public Administration

Miami-Dade County University and Florida International University are pleased to offer a Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) degree program for County employees. The BPA degree is appropriate for students seeking or currently pursuing a public service career, as well as for individuals who wish to continue at the graduate level in either public administration or law.

Admission Requirements

Individuals meeting the following requirements will be considered for admission:

  • Completed an Associate in Arts degree at a Florida public community college and a minimum GPA of 2.0 or

  • FIU undergraduates with 60 credits,

  • transfer students with 60 acceptable credits and

  • students with an Associate in Arts from regionally accredited independent Florida or out-of-state colleges. 

Applicants must also:

  1. Complete the FIU’s University Core Curriculum requirements,

  2. Pass the CLAST exam, and

  3. Have a minimum GPA of 2.0

Bachelor of Public Administration Requirements

 
  • 60 upper division credits

  • 48 credits (16 courses) in Public Administration Core Required Courses to include course work in Policy, Quantitative Skills and Public Management

  • 9 credits of Concentration Electives

  • 3 credit Integrative Seminar or Internship

When and Where

The program will be offered onsite at the Stephen P. Clark Building. All classes will be offered on weekday evenings. Students will be provided with one-stop shopping, meaning that they will be able to register, buy books and get their FIU photo ID onsite at the Stephen P.
