Welcome to the Community Image Advisory Board Website!

The Community Image Advisory Board (CIAB) was originally formed as the Community Image 2000 Advisory Committee. On February 26, 2002, the committee was officially renamed as the Community Image Advisory Board and was established as a permanent advisory board to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners.

The CIAB has developed a comprehensive plan for the maintenance and improvement of major roadways, transportation terminals, and adjacent properties. The board's vision is to increase the number of scenic vistas; tree-lined streets and lush landscaping in our high traffic areas, popular destinations, and neighborhoods throughout the County to ensure visitors experience what they envision Miami to be.

    What's new in Community Image

    Pow Wow

    Pow Wow

In preparation for POW WOW, the largest international travel industry conference in the world arrived to town in May of 2009, The Community Image Advisory Board teamed up with Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez's Volunteer Initiative, named "V", and with City Year, one of Miami-Dade's newest volunteer organizations, to transform the planter beds and other landscaped areas at two of our most popular Metro mover Stations, Omni and College/Bayside, with colorful "Florida Friendly" plants and shrubs.

    C.I.A.B. Ambassadors Beautify Public Spaces

C.I.A.B. Ambassadors Beautify Public SpacesThe tools of their trade are shovels, not paintbrushes, but the result of their labors are works of art all the same. Host Erika Benitez-Gill joins the County's top landscaping team, known as the Community Image Advisory Board Ambassadors, on their mission to beautify public spaces. See how their green thumbs transform a library's ho-hum lawn with eye-pleasing and water-efficient native plants.

    Greening the V

Greening the VCommunity Image Advisory Board, Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami with volunteers from Hands on Miami and Roots in the City joined to enhance the vista of the downtown skyline by planting thousands of wild flowers, tropical trees in a grassy swale along I-95, from NW 11th Terrace to I-395, that we refer to as the "V" area.

    Anti-Litter Campaign

    Paper Ball

Trash BasketThe Community Image Advisory Board & the Miami HEAT square off against litter.

In a new Public Service Announcement - produced by Beber Silverstein Group (BSG) - Coach Pat Riley along with players Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, and Udonis Haslem "shoot" litter into a garbage can and advise Miami to "SLAM IT, JAM IT, STUFF IT" and "Keep South Florida Litter-Free."

The overall priority of the CIAB is to improve the condition of major corridors on which visitors and residents frequently travel. That includes the elimination of litter, proper and frequent maintenance of roadside foliage, replacement of unhealthy or damaged landscape, and other cosmetic upgrades that will improve Miami-Dade's image.
