Proposed Annexation to the City of Miami Springs

The City of Miami Springs has led an application to annex the area depicted. As required by Section 20-7 of the Miami-Dade County Code, this letter is to notify you that a public hearing on a boundary change application led by the City of Miami Springs is scheduled for April 13th, 2011, 2:00 PM in front of the Board of County Commissioners Infrastructure and Land Use Committee at the address shown above.

This notice is being provided to all property owners within the proposed annexation area and within 600 feet thereof. All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing.

In general, the municipal type services currently provided by the County in the proposed annexation area are local police, public works, code enforcement and building services. If the annexation is approved, the City of Miami Springs will provide these services.

The current municipal millage rate for the proposed annexation area is the adopted FY 2010-11 unincorporated millage rate of 2.298. If the area were part of the City of Miami Springs the adopted FY 2010-11 millage rate of 6.9408 would be applied, an increase of 4.6428 mills, the average property owner would pay an additional $5,100 in municipal taxes.

Proposed Annexation  The proposed annexation area is generally bounded on the north by NW 74th St. Connector, on the west by SR 826 (Palmetto Expressway), on the south by NW 36th Street and on the east by the City of Miami Springs boundary (NW 67th Avenue).
