    Frequently Asked Questions

    What does incorporation mean?

Incorporation means that the area will become a new city.

Why is this area being incorporated?

Currently this committee (the MAC) is studying the feasibility of incorporating this area or annexing to an existing municipality.

    How was this Committee created?

The Board of County Commissioners created this MAC.

Are the meetings open to the public?

All meetings are free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend the meetings to find out more information and/or express their opinions.

How do I find out about the meetings?

All meetings are advertised in the Monday Local section of the Miami Herald.  Meetings are also posted on the County Calendar.

How long does this process take?

If the MAC decides to move forward, the process will take approximately one year for a vote on the matter to take place.

Do we get to vote on this matter?

Ultimately the resident electors will vote.

If this area is incorporated where will the City Hall be located?

The City Hall location would be decided after the area incorporates.

Will I still have Miami-Dade Police, Fire and Garbage services?

As a condition to incorporate, the new city would have to continue to receive services from Miami-Dade County Fire, Library and Solid Waste. The new city would also have to contract with the Miami-Dade Police Department for a minimum of three (3) years.
