Count on the Same Excellence Delivered During the Holidays

Miami-Dade County government would like to advise all of its residents that County administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2008 in observance of Christmas Day and on Thursday, January 1, 2009 in observance of New Year's Day. All essential services, including the Police and Fire Rescue Departments, Port of Miami and Miami International Airport, will be operating on regular schedule on both days.

For the 2008 holiday season schedule, Miami-Dade County's Solid Waste, 3-1-1 Answer Center, Transit, Public Library System and Animal Services Departments will be running on the following holiday schedule:

Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management

The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management's (DSWM) Trash and Recycling Centers, and all regional transfer stations and landfills will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2008. The facilities will re-open on Friday, December 26, 2008 and observe normal hours of operation.

The DSWM Resources Recovery Facility will be open on Thursday, December 25, 2008 from 6 a.m. to noon. The facility will resume normal hours of operation on Friday, December 26, 2008.

There will be no curbside garbage and trash collection services on Thursday, December 25, 2008, for residents of unincorporated Miami-Dade County and the municipalities of Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach and Sweetwater.

Residents are advised of the following holiday garbage pick-up schedule:

• Residents who receive Thursday garbage collection should not place their waste at the curbside on Thursday, December 25, 2008. Thursday customers should place their waste at the curbside on Monday, December 29, 2008 (the next regular garbage collection day).
• If Monday collections are not completed, DSWM crews will continue collection on Tuesday, December 30, 2008.
• If Friday collections are not completed, DSWM will continue collection on Saturday, December 27, 2008.

Please note, due to the heavy volume of waste anticipated to be placed at the curbside after the holidays, garbage service may be later in the day than many residents are accustomed to on Friday, December 26, 2008 and Monday, December 29, 2008, or the garbage may be collected on the following day.

There will be no curbside recycling collection on Thursday, December 25, 2008, for residents of:

County residents whose every-other-week, blue cart curbside recycling collection service falls on Thursday, December 25, 2008 should place their recyclables at the curbside on Saturday, December 27, 2008 as indicated on the curbside recycling calendar delivered with the blue cart.
