Miami-Dade TV On-Demand Considered The Best Government Access Station Web Site

Miami-Dade TV recognized in five categories by The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade TV On-Demand, the County's video on-demand Web site, won first prize in the Government Access Station Web Site category at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) 22nd Annual Government Programming Awards.  NATOA recognizes excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies.

Along with the first place award, Miami-Dade TV won second place in the public service announcement category for a 30-second Miami-Dade TV On-Demand promo.  In addition, three other Miami-Dade TV programs were awarded honorable mentions, including "InSide" in the magazine show category; "Miami-Dade Now" in the news category; and the environmental program "Down To Earth" in the public education category.

"I am thrilled that Miami-Dade TV is achieving the recognition it deserves for providing residents with programming that not only looks great, but is informative and valuable," said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez.

The winners were announced at the annual NATOA conference on Friday, October 5th in Portland, Oregon. This year, NATOA received over 1,200 entries representing 180 agencies from 31 states across the U.S. and Canada.  The entries spanned 63 award categories including, public affairs and service, news and magazine programs, interview/talk shows, public service announcements and election coverage.

"There is simply no denying that local community and government television programming are thriving and are meeting the needs of our communities, said Lori Panzino-Tillery, NATOA president. "Both the number of entries and the scope of subject matter clearly indicate that high production values and the focus on local content are the keys to success."
