Awards

Throughout the years, the Communications team has been recognized for its achievements. Miami-Dade County's Communications Department was formerly known as Community Information and Outreach (CIAO), and before that, the Government Information Center (GIC).

2017

Telly Awards

Telly Awards
At the 38th Annual Telly Awards, Miami-Dade TV won a Bronze Telly in the General Social Responsibility category for its “I Voted! Primary Election 2016” commercial produced for the County’s Elections Department.

 

2015

Marcom Award

MarCom Awards
Competing side-by-side with advertising agencies, public relations firms and production companies for top creative industry awards, Communications earned three 2015 MarCom Awards.The County's "Quality Water, Quality Life" campaign won Platinum in the 2015 Marcom Awards' Integrated Marketing category; the "Hit the Club! Let's Play Golf" campaign won Gold in the same category; and the County's Instagram account won Gold in the Instagram Engagement category. Communications, in collaboration with staff at various other County departments, developed all the creative content for each winner.

 

2014

Marcom Award

MarCom Awards
Competing for top creative industry awards, CIAO earned three 2014 MarCom Awards. The County's 305biz magazine won Gold in the Government category, the "Miami Alive" campaign won Gold in the Integrated Marketing category, and the "Time For An Upgrade" campaign won Platinum in the Government category. Each was developed and produced entirely by County staff.

 

 

 

Best of the Web 2001

Best of the Web Award
Miami-Dade County was one of the top finalists in the 2014 Best of the Web Awards. Now in its 19th year, Best of the Web (BOW) recognizes outstanding government portals and websites based on their innovations, functionality and efficiencies. The Center for Digital Government's makes the awards to state and local governments across the U.S. who are tops in digital delivery.

Emmy Awards
Miami-Dade TV was honored with an EMMY Award nomination by the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for the mini-documentary, Miami-Dade Golden Veterans: 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. This production was created to recognize military service members across Miami-Dade County who have risked their lives defending this country’s hard-won freedoms over the years.

Telly Awards
Miami-Dade TV took home two Bronze Tellys at the 35th Annual Telly Awards: “State of the Port 2014” – a promotional/informational program featuring PortMiami as an economic powerhouse, and “The Most Interesting Pets of the World” – a public service announcement advocating Miami-Dade Animal Services’ pet adoptions.

2013

Emmy Awards
The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Miami-Dade TV’s “The Most Interesting Pets in the World” television spot a Suncoast Regional Emmy award in the Community Public Service category. The spot was produced for the County’s Animal Services Department to encourage people to adopt shelter pets.

 

2012

Telly Awards
The Telly Awards recognized Miami-Dade TV as a Bronze winner in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for the commercial, "The Original Tap Water" – a public service announcement on the county’s excellent drinking water.

Gold Screen Award of Excellence
The National Association of Government Communicators awarded Miami-Dade TV with the Gold Screen Award of Excellence for the "I Love Tapwater" Information/Multimedia Campaign.

2011

Designated Citizen-Engaged Community 2010-2012

Citizen-Engaged Community 2010-2012
PTI has designated nine local governments from across the U.S. as “Citizen-Engaged Communities” for their efforts to provide the public with multi-channel access to government services and information. Miami-Dade County is the only county amongst eight cities that were designated as Citizen-Engaged Communities for 2010-2012.

Best of the Web Award
The Center for Digital Government ranked Miami-Dade County’s Web Portal No. 2 in Best of the Web Awards 2009. Miami-Dade County also received an Honorable Mention from the Center for e-Net, the County's employee portal, which workers use to enroll for benefits, view payroll information and update personal data.

 

 

Best Fit Integrator Award

Best Fit Integrator Award
Miami-Dade County is the winner of the prestigious Best Fit Integrator Exceptional Service Award in Portals, for working with partner Kobrix Software, Inc. to develop the the Portal/Knowledge Base Integration (PKBI). The Center for Digital Government created the award to recognize collaboration in solving digital problems.

PTI Technology Solutions Awards
The Government Information Center was the winner of the Web & E-Government Services Award for "eNet - Miami-Dade County Employee Web Portal." GIC also received an honorable mention for "ServiceDirect."

 

Motorola Visionary Award
This award is given to the most Visionary 311 call center in the United Sates as voted on by the CSR Motorola users (peer 311 agencies around the United States).  Miami-Dade 311 was recognized for their innovative ideas and use of technology and for their support to assist other 311 center startups.

Sterling Quality Achievement Award
This award was presented to the Government Information Center from the Florida Sterling Council for the Portal Knowledge Base Integration system that integrates 311 knowledge topics with County web portal content pages.

Promotional Video Campaign Award
Miami-Dade TV received third place in the category of Promotional Video Campaign for the production of 2@ the Zoo at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) 23rd Annual Government Programming Awards.

 

2007

Best Government Access Station Website
Miami-Dade County TV's On-Demand website, won first prize in the Government Access Station Web Site category at the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) 22nd Annual Government Programming Awards.

Innovations Award in Transforming Government
Miami-Dade County’s Government Information Center (GIC) is among the world’s top 20 innovators  according to a Harvard University institute that recognizes trendsetters in global government.

Digital Government Achievement Award
The Housing Central Portal was the government-to-citizen local government category winner.

2007 Ambassador for Cities
Housing Central was selected for this prestigious award sponsored by the National Association of Realtors and the United States Conference of Mayors.

Outstanding Public Sector Organization of the Year Award
The American Society for Public Administrators (ASPA), South Florida Chapter presented the award to both the County and the City of Miami in recognition of their efforts to work together to improve service to the public through Miami-Dade’s 3-1-1 Contact Center.

National Customer Support Excellence Award
Miami-Dade's 3-1-1 is the winner of the National Customer Support Excellence Award. After less than two years in operation, Miami-Dade County's 3-1-1 Contact Center took top honors in the Customer Focus category of the Government Customer Support Excellence Awards.

 

Digital Counties winner

Digital Counties
The Center for Digital Government ranked Miami-Dade County ranked tenth among counties of 500,000 population or more, in utilizing information technology (IT) to deliver high-quality service to its customers and citizens, according to the 2006 Digital Counties Survey.

 

Best Place to Work

Best Place to Work in IT
Computer World magazine has rated Miami-Dade County among the best 100 places to work in the Information Technology (IT) field. The honor is part of the weekly publication’s 13th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey published in Computerworld.

 

NACo Achievement Award
Miami-Dade County is the winner of a 2006  Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for
"The 3-1-1 Answer Center Emergency Response System."  

 

Government Technology Leadership
Winner of the Public Sector Award from ITFlorida.

 

Best Municipal Advancement
311 was a winner in the "Best of Miami" awards given by Miami New Times.

The Online Services Division earned a “Best of Class” for communications on the web portal, the highest NACIO award given during the competition.

This international competition selected the Under the Sea City ( kids.miamidade.gov ) as a finalist in their 2002 competition. The purpose of the Challenge is to highlight success, honor those who drive the innovation and progress fundamental to the Information Society, and to stimulate the exchange of ideas and best practices.
