A randomized lottery will be conducted to select the youth who will be interviewed.

Orientation of the Interns
Orientation sessions will be held on the first scheduled work day for Interns.  College Interns are required to attend a full-day orientation session, and high school Interns are required to attend a full-day orientation session.  These orientation sessions will give Interns an overview of the program’s guidelines, requirements, and expectations.

The orientation sessions will address such areas as:

• Miami-Dade County’s table of organization
• Role of Interns (selected counselors will have added responsibilities)
• Program information (salary, pay dates, duration, policies and procedures, role of Interns and goals / objectives)
• Communicating effectively with employees and the public
• Telephone skills
• Workplace violence
• Miami-Dade County's Mission Statement, Strategic Themes, and Guiding Principals
• Teamwork
• Workplace safety
