Investments in technology involve a substantial amount of funding and funding is limited. Therefore, it is critical that the County make investments that have a verifiable business case. The CIO, under the direction of the County Manager, has established an IT Leadership Council to prioritize and recommend these funding decisions. The IT Leadership Council bases its recommendations on the following criteria:
- IT Investment decisions need to align with departmental business strategies and the proposed solutions must make sense strategically, technically and financially.
- IT investments must meet county standards or have a compelling reason for not doing so.
- Need to determine whether an IT Initiative should be undertaken at the departmental or the enterprise level.
