The Miami-Dade Juvenile Services Department (JSD), created in October 2005, is a department committed to the youth and families of Miami-Dade County. It incorporates the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC). The JAC remains the centralized processing, referral, and evaluation center for all juveniles arrested in Dade County. The facility, which opened in late October 1997, has served over 120,000 arrested juveniles as of December 31, 2006. The JSD allows representatives from law enforcement and social services to work together under one roof to provide a complete range of services for both at-risk youth and youth involved with the Juvenile Justice System.
