Saving your job searches results in you being able to use the same search criteria without having to re-enter information each time you use the system. When you save a search you can also set up a job agent which will send you emails about new job postings that meet the saved criteria.
The job agent will run your search automatically every night for a 45-day period. If the search finds any new jobs that meet your criteria, you will receive an email with the information. A message will also appear in the message center on your careers home page. Each time the agent searches, it looks for new job opportunities posted after that last email it sent you. You will not receive duplicate emails. Each email can list up to five new job openings. If more than five new jobs are announced, they will not be listed, however, the email will indicate that more were found.
I used a common job title in the keyword search but did not find the jobs I expected. How can I find them?
Job titles frequently contain abbreviations or acronyms. If you are not getting the results you expect, you may want to search again using a job family selection instead or keywords that are likely to appear in the job description. The job families are:
administrative support/clerical/paraprofessional
information technology
professional/managerial
protective services/code enforcement
trades/manual labor
internships
volunteers
If I sign up for job agent e-mail notifications, will I receive the same job opening notice more than once?
Applicants may create up to five different job agents to work simultaneously. The system will communicate with you electronically by following the criteria you selected to create the agent. Well defined job agent criteria should result in the receipt of only one email notice per posted opening.
What is a job agent?
A job agent is a system function that works as your electronic employment representative. As you search for jobs, save the criteria you selected to set up the job agent. The job agent will notify you when new job openings in your areas of interest are announced. The job agent will send you an email when it identifies new job postings that meet the job search criteria as entered and saved.
