On May 16, 2008, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) joined the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in hosting a national summit to introduce Miami-Dade County as a national model for juvenile justice.
The one-day summit highlighted the results and progress of the National Demonstration Project (NDP), which was created to reform an active, functioning system and present the work accomplished as the national model for urban areas to reduce arrest, re-arrest, and detention rates.
The event joined over 200 experts from juvenile justice agencies, law enforcement, researchers and community providers from across the U.S. and the world who shared valuable information on juvenile justice and delinquency prevention.
