Miami-Dade County Juvenile Services Department Director Wansley Walters has repeatedly been invited by the International Juvenile Justice Observatory (IJJO) to present the nationally recognized Miami-Dade County Juvenile Justice Model in countries such as Belgium and Spain. The most recent IJJO Conference took place in Valencia, Spain in October 2008. Visit the IJJO website for more information on Director Walter's presentation.
Several European nations are pursuing replication of Miami-Dade County's nationally recognized local model. The Children Acts Advisory Board (CAAB), a children's advocacy group established in Ireland, sent a representative to attend the Juvenile Justice Summit held in Miami on May 2008. An article on the summit was published in their Summer Newsletter. Impressed and interested in the model, the CAAB invited Director Walters to present at the CAAB's 2008 National Conference in Dublin, Ireland in October. To read more on the event, download a copy of the press release or visit the CAAB website to view the presentation and topic paper.
