Welcome to the Juvenile Services

The Miami-Dade County Juvenile Services Department (JSD) is committed to the youth and families of Miami-Dade County

JSD allows representatives from law enforcement and social services to work together under one roof to provide a complete range of services for both at-risk youth and youth involved with the Juvenile Justice System.

Formerly known as the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC), the facility has served as a centralized processing, referral, and evaluation center for over 195,000 juvenile arrests in Miami-Dade County, and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Alternatives to youth arrests

Miami-Dade, Monroe and Pinellas counties lead the state in using a new program that aims to keep young people who commit minor crimes out of the juvenile justice system by allowing police to issue "civil citations" and prescribe community service or intervention programs, rather than arresting them, a new study has found.

Miami-Dade County Youth Commission travels to Washington, D.C.

Miami-Dade County Youth Commissioners travelled to our nation’s capital on June 2015 in order to meet with Florida legislators to discuss youth-related issues that impact the youth of South Florida as well as the nation.
