Programs and Events Exclusively for Friends
and Museum Circle Members
MAM Art Treks
Discover the world of art happening in our own community.
MAM curators guide you on a series of neighborhood bus tours
featuring studio visits with emerging and established artists,
gallery talks and access to a number of private collections
throughout the year. Each tour features a little something
extra highlighting a unique aspect of the area. By subscription.
Lunch, Look and Listen
Friends and Museum Circle Members are invited to a lunchtime lecture series
featuring renown visiting artists and curators invited to Miami in conjunction
with MAM exhibitions. In addition to lunch, those who attend also get a behind-
the- scenes look at the installation in progress with the MAM curator in
charge. Previous Lunch, Look and Listen programs have included talks by Chuck
Close, Kerry James Marshall and Russell Crotty. By subscription.
Art Trips
Last October MAM’s Friends and Museum Circle members traveled to Brooklyn and Harlem to visit a number of private collections and museums as well as the studios of artists William Wegman, Vik Muniz, Wangechi Mutu, Lorna Simpson & James Casebere, and Michele Oka Doner. The weekend also included a lively cocktail reception in SoHo hosted by Jan and Charles Cowles in honor of MAM’s founding director, Suzanne Delehanty, and in celebration of the launch of the second volume of MAM’s publication series Converge 2.
VIP Tours
You are invited to bring a group of business associates,
friends and clients to MAM for a curator-led tour of the exhibitions
on view. These 45-minute tours are for 10 to 25 friends that
you would like to introduce to the museum. Light refreshments
are available in the MAM Snack Bar and, as always, MAM staff
will be happy to assist you in identifying lunchtime venues
in the area.
MAM Collectors Council
MAM members at the
Friends and above levels may join the waiting list for membership
in MAM’s Collectors Council. The
MAM Collectors Council is a new group made up of museum members
and supporters dedicated to the growth of MAM’s permanent
collection. The group functions under the direction of MAM
curators. MAM’s Collectors Council serves as an advocacy
and fundraising group for acquisitions for MAM’s permanent
collection. Comprised of both beginning and seasoned collectors,
the Council offers participants the opportunity to have firsthand
access to artists, curators, dealers and other collectors who
share an interest in contemporary art.
Supporters donate $5,000 annually to participate in the Collectors
Council. The group meets twice a year to look at works that
MAM’s curators have submitted for consideration. |
