Improving Performance with Lean Six Sigma

Ever wonder how you could increase customer satisfaction, improve the quality of your services, or just be more efficient and effective in your day-to-day job?  If so, you should consider learning more about Lean Six Sigma.

Lean Six Sigma is a structured problem-solving approach that emphasizes facts rather than opinion or gut feel.  It uses tools that streamline processes, increase productivity, and work of high quality. Lean Six Sigma is used to improve important outcomes; it is used to “move the needle” on key performance measures.

Miami-Dade County has already been using Lean Six Sigma techniques in several departments.  A sampling of projects include streamlining procurement processes, reducing waste collection and transfer costs, and improving call center handling times.

Miami-Dade County government wants its employees to develop their analytical problem-solving skills.  Basic “Yellow Belt” certification training has been developed and delivered to more than 100 employees.  Additional training for the higher-level “Green Belt” certification will be available soon.

If you are interested in Lean Six Sigma training, please send an email to performance@miamidade.gov or call OMB at 305-375-5143.
