Welcome to MiamiDade.gov! I have had the honor and privilege of serving as Miami-Dade County Manager since June 2003.  Now, together with Mayor Carlos Alvarez we are responsible for the day-to-day administration of one of the largest County governments in the southeast United States with a $6.9 billion budget, 30,000 employees and 60 departments which serve a County population of more than 2.3 million residents.

My priorities for managing Miami-Dade County have been focused around five strategic initiatives identified through the County's first ever Strategic Plan.  Departments that deliver services to the community are expected to use the service area priorities or desired results from the Strategic Plan to drive their business plans and service delivery. Special emphasis on Results-Oriented Government insures accountability and better service to our community.

It is my belief that while we all work in different departments and do different things, we are all part of the same organization with a common mission.  It is important for all of us to understand our mission as County employees. Whatever, our job is: police officer, clerk, librarian…the mission applies to each of us. When all's said and done our mission to Deliver Excellence Everyday, is what we are all here to do…it is our purpose.
