Purpose
The County Manager’s Urban Fellows Program aims to enrich graduate student’s learning experience by introducing them to Miami-Dade County’s government in action. Students will participate in well-planned and organized practical projects that match their educational objectives, and in turn provide the county with a quality research and suggestions.
Summary
The County Manager’s Urban Fellows Program provides a non-paid, 12-week graduate level internship opportunity for selected candidates. Participants are assigned to a specific project and will have the leadership of a project supervisor, a member of senior management, who will guide them as they complete their assignment and learn more about their respective department. Flexible hours will be accommodated to suit participant’s class schedules. Participants will receive free parking or metro pass.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
In order to participate in the Urban Fellows Program, a student must be currently enrolled in a graduate program, with an internship requirement or option as part of their curriculum.
Status
While in the Urban Fellows Program, participants will be considered interns, assigned to a special project for 12 weeks. This is a non-paid, for credit only internship program.
Applying for the Program
Program requirements will be advertised through universities locally, and nationally, and applications will be received and processed by the program coordinator.

Selection Criteria
The Urban Fellows Selection Committee reviews the applications and makes the final selections.

Program Completion
Project supervisors shall complete evaluations of participants at the end of the session. Participants are required to submit a written report to their project supervisor on the date assigned in order to receive recognition of completion. Exit interviews will be scheduled after submission of the project. Participation in the Urban Fellows Program commits neither party to the other upon completion of the program.
