"Don't Block The Box" Campaign launches in October

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
The “Don’t Block the Box” campaign, which is designed to keep traffic flowing on roadways by keeping intersections clear, is launching in October. “Don’t Block the Box" is part of a public education campaign by Miami-Dade County, City of Miami, Downtown Development Authority, Florida Department of Transportation and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce known as MOVN (Meeting Our Vehicular Needs) to ease traffic congestion.

Although it is not a new law, it is one of the principle causes of frustration for many commuters. Enforcement begins on Monday, October 22 in intersections across Miami-Dade County.

To educate drivers, “Don’t Block the Box” messages are being placed in radio, television and periodicals.

State, County and City law enforcement agencies are stepping up enforcement to stop drivers from blocking intersections. Drivers may receive up to a $500 fine and 3 points on their license.
