About Alex Ferro, Chief of Staff
Alex Ferro serves as the Chief of Staff to Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office including the coordination of policy and legislation, external affairs and communications. Additionally, Mr. Ferro is the point person in facilitating and supporting the Deputy Mayors and department directors in implementing the Mayor's strategic vision.
Prior to joining the County, Mr. Ferro was Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp in the State of Florida, Executive Office of Governor Charlie Crist. As Chief of Staff he was responsible for the organization and supervision of the functions of the Lt. Governor's staff and supervised the Lt. Governor's various projects. He also coordinated the preparation of meeting agenda and ensured that the Lt. Governor was adequately briefed and knowledgeable on issues and topics discussed. Mr. Ferro oversaw the Office of Child Advocacy, Children's Cabinet, Space Florida, and Office of Drug control.
Mr. Ferro has a long history of government experience that includes serving as the Executive Director of the Florida Hispanic Legislative Caucus (FHLC) in Tallahassee, Florida and as the Fundraising Director for the Foundation for Preserving Florida's Future. Mr. Ferro also worked on various state political campaigns including as campaign manager for the re-election effort of State Representative J.C Planas, managing consultant for the leadership bid of State Representative Jeff Kottkamp, and as campaign manager for Tom Anderson's 2002 State House Election Campaign
