About Ed Marquez, Deputy Mayor
Edward Marquez is Deputy Mayor of Miami-Dade County and Interim Director of the Finance Department. He oversees the Finance, Management and Budget, Audit Management Services, Information Technology and Internal Services Departments as well as the Housing Finance Authority, Clerk of the Board and Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Marquez is an investment banker, financial advisor and Certified Public Accountant with a wide range of experience in the management and negotiation of varied business operations and complex financial transactions. A goal-oriented manager, he achieves desired results.
Prior to joining the County, Marquez was Senior Vice President at Southwest Company where his clients included the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, City of Miami and North Miami Community Redevelopment Districts, among others. He held the post of Chief Financial Officer at the Miami-Dade County Public School Board, the fourth largest school board in the country with operating and construction budgets of $2.6 and $1.7 billion respectively.
When he was City of Miami Manager, he directed development of the city's five-year fiscal and operational recovery plan. Previously, he was Finance Director of Miami-Dade County from 1986 to 1996, where he directed all financial and controllership operation of County government.
