The expansion of our community must be managed carefully and options maximized to increase development within the Urban Development Boundary (UDB). Critical decisions are about to be made about our future growth. Our local and state experts have made it clear where they stand. The wrong decisions could leave us all with more traffic congestion, reduced services and unaffordable homes. The right ones will necessitate infill housing and protect our wildlife, water supply, agricultural industry and our precious Everglades.
Population growth is inevitable, but the growth of our community must be planned. If not, the result could be sprawl for all. We must ensure that future generations will have sufficient clean water, a healthy economy and social well-being.
We must also keep in mind that the fight to “Hold the Line” is here to stay. We must remain forever vigilant if we are to protect our precious resources. We must never let our guard down and become complacent. We must make the appropriate decisions at the appropriate times, because the push to move the line will not end.
