Miami Marlins Stadium Wins Approval

For the next 35 years, the Miami Marlins will call Miami-Dade County home. A ballpark plan has won the approval of both the Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Commissions. The real partnership between the public and private sectors begins now. There's a lot of work to do as we prepare to break ground on a new ballpark this July. I am determined to make sure this project moves forward in a timely and cost-effective manner so that the new facility is something with which we can all be proud.

I am also excited to put people to work at a time when so many of our residents are struggling. Hundreds of jobs will be created as construction begins. The economy will recover, and this investment is one that will ensure we emerge from this economic downturn better and stronger.

So let's get to work, create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, expand our urban core, and entertain thousands of residents and visitors. Of course, a baseball stadium is just one of the amenities that make a community world class, but I, for one, am ready to "play ball".
