The process to adopt a final budget continues this week. I am working with the Board of County Commissioners to make sure the final budget reflects what we are hearing from our residents.
Miami-Dade County is facing a $444 million budget shortfall and there is no easy way to fill the gap. A decision has been made not to raise taxes. That leaves few options to balance the budget. Difficult decisions are ahead, but we are working to preserve as many county programs and services as possible.
The final public hearing on the budget is scheduled for September 17th, at 5:01pm, in Commission Chambers at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street in Downtown Miami. Your feedback is welcome.
Sincerely,

Mayor Carlos Alvarez
