This week we will break ground on the new Miami-Dade Public Safety Training Institute and once again Miami-Dade County is breaking the mold. The Institute is first of its kind in the nation. The cutting-edge concept for this facility is designed to meet the mutual training needs of the Miami-Dade Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department.
The new Public Safety Training Institute will better prepare our men and women for any conflict that may arise. All agencies -- local and federal -- will benefit from this new training institute.
The collaboration between local and federal agencies sharing resources under one roof brings forth the best of all agencies and promotes information sharing and problem solving. It will enable Police and Corrections Officers to obtain a higher level of training, which up until now was unavailable on-site. It will also provide use of federal funding for the future development of the Miami-Dade Police Department's existing training facility.
The Miami-Dade Public Safety Training Institute brings a new level of public safety training. I'm proud to say that Miami-Dade County will be leading the way for future training institutes nationwide.
