Mayor Carlos Alvarez promotes the United States Conference of Mayors’ 2007 national Dollar Wi$e campaign


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez will join mayors across the country to celebrate Dollar Wi$e Week from September 24-29, 2007.  During Dollar Wi$e Week, Mayor Alvarez will work with local banks to inform families about the importance of saving money and making wise financial choices.  Those without bank accounts will also be invited to begin saving money and making wise financial choices.

The Mayors' National Dollar Wi$e Campaign: Financial Education for America was launched at the 2004 United States Conference of Mayors.  The ongoing campaign, which was created in partnership with the Council for the New American City members and the Federal Reserve Board, focuses on saving, credit card management, education and home ownership.  The theme of this year’s Dollar Wi$e Week is “Savings for Kids and Families.”
