Over 350 attended Miami-Made County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez’s annual toy drive with DJ Irie and Winn-Dixie stores

(MIAMI, December 27, 2012) – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and DJ Irie teamed up with Winn-Dixie stores and a group of local young professionals for the Mayor’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive.  The event, which was attended by over 350 people and took place on December 19 at Segrado, benefitted the Irie Foundation and the Kristi House.

“I'm grateful to DJ Irie, Winn-Dixie and all of the young professionals from our community who partnered with my office for this year’s toy drive.  There is no better present during the holiday season than putting a smile on a child’s face," said Mayor Gimenez.

“It was an honor to for the Irie Foundation to be a benefactor of the Mayor’s Annual Toy Drive.  The drive was a huge success and is a testament of the love and support Miami-Dade County has for Mayor Gimenez.  Hundreds of kids had a very Merry Christmas thanks to the efforts of the Mayor’s Office, Winn Dixie and all of the other amazing sponsors that came together for the Toy Drive,” said DJ Irie.

“Kristi House is thankful for the efforts by Mayor Gimenez’ office and community partners that helped bring joy to so many children and families in need this holiday season.  Every child deserves to have a gift for the holidays and we were able to pull together to make that happen,” said Michelle A. Hernandez, Therapist and Pathways Program Coordinator, Kristi House.
