Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez statement regarding Boston Marathon

(MIAMI, April 16, 2013) – Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims of the Boston terrorist attack.  It is now essential that the perpetrators be caught and brought to justice.  

Beyond our normal practice of maintaining strict security measures in areas deemed critical to our community, I’d like to assure our residents that we are working closely with our regional partners in law enforcement to increase security measures.  That includes working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Joint Information Center, as well as local and state public safety agencies.   

As we continue with our normal daily routines, I ask Miami-Dade residents to be vigilant and alert law enforcement if you see anything suspicious.  Working together, we can keep our community safe.
